What is the maximum payload of a 40-foot shipping container?

A standard 40-foot container has a maximum gross weight of approximately 32,500kg, with a tare weight of around 3,800–4,200kg, providing a maximum payload of approximately 28,000–28,600kg. Despite being twice the length, the 40ft payload is similar to a 20ft due to its heavier structural weight.
