How much does a shipping container weigh when empty?

An empty standard 20ft shipping container weighs approximately 2,200–2,300kg, while a 40ft standard container weighs around 3,700–4,200kg. High-cube containers are slightly heavier than their standard-height equivalents. These tare weights are relevant for transport planning and ground loading calculations.
